Kingsford Smith on Friday, Jan. 24, 1930 manouvreing the Southern Moon ready for take offbogged the aircraft. Two aircraft were ready for take off... the Southern Cloud and the Southern Moon.
Three tons of airplane. Loaded with passengers and the luggage, they weighed more like 5 tons.
Three engined high winged monoplanes. No mean task to pull them out. Fordson Tractors were used to extricate the plane. These passenger planes looked very similar to the Southern Cross. The plane Smithy and Ulm used to fly the Pacific.
The planes could carry 17 passengers.
